Mackenzie and her mother, Kathy came up with these 60+ recipes, all of which are gluten-free and vegan! The two interviewed 16 people (farmers, doctors, chefs, activists, and more) who are changing the food system and making healthy, culturally-relevant food more accessible for all. 

 

Because Kathy and Mackenzie felt that cookbooks focus solely on the food and often don’t teach about the food system, such as how the food was grown, how the workers who picked the food are treated, how difficult it is for new farmers to acquire land, and all of the problems with our industrial food system, they felt a responsibility to share this information with the world. They also give people tangible ways to take action and get involved with great organizations!
